The hair is gorgeous, and the eyes are VERY realistic. The ears seem to flop out a bit too much (I'm not sure if that's what you were going for) and his lips seem to be angled a bit weird on the right so his mouth is in an odd position. Other than that it looks really wonderful. It looks like it came from a photo. Really nice job!

Wonderful, wonderful piece of work Diane! I have terrible problems scanning my work too - all my .25 lines scan out at about .60 so it all becomes dark and thick lined. We lose all the fine and delicate detailing.... But - we work with what we have - and you have a beautiful drawing here, regardless of how you know it really looks Best wishes, Xris +10 (easy!)

I'd say you are quite wrong! The dark shadown and background creates real depth in this! An to me it seems he is standing outdoors, with someone holding a torch near his face or something. I really like the sense of light. +9

If your scanner 'ate the details', then I can't imagine what the original looks like. I can see an awful lot of detail here; the individual hairs, the shirt ribbing, the tie string, the eyes, etc. Extremely impressive for not using a reference. You've created a very beautiful and compelling face. I just don't understand why you hate the hair. I see nothing in it to pick at. I find the shading / highlighting to be flawless.
