The neck seems a bit long, and the upper arm to forearm to ratio isn't typical; but knowing you, that was intentional... and besides, it's not like I've really seen one of these things before

Seriously, though, absolutely wicked design. I adore the horns and those huge, luminous eyes. The braids work really well to bring us into the picture and make us more involved with the critter's pose and gaze. Nothing to crit here.

And nope, it's not gollum's wife ^^ I don't even know if it's a she You're the 2nd one to tell me that it looks like Gollum, I had not planned to do it, but I may have been influenced by the movie ^^

Your two latest works show a huge leep in quality in terms of technique; You definitely improved. The character design of this image is extraordinary; Very unique and well designed. Color palette is very rich; The red/yellow scheme is very vivid, and the construction of the figure is very well done.

One word "Wow"

for me, it's definitely a she given the butt you gave her and what she's wearing. I think the tail is not at the right place, or at least, it's not centered on her butt. maybe it's just me, or a trick of the light? I'd have like to see the main braid twists so it does not just faces us unaturally, just like the second one. I think the first horn on her right is weird perspectively-wise, I think we shouldn't be able to see that much of it as it's pointing toward her back. Lastly, I would have like a background...although I know it's a character design, I'd have like to see what kind of environement she lives in. Blacks works well, though.

The colors here are nicely chosen, and fit altogether. The sharpness of the whole picture is a pleasure to look at, with all the details, I think the JPG compression did not ill-treat your picture this time, am I mistaken? I love the braids, the first on is very well detailled and the second one simply completes the other one. awesome design for her hairdo, and the face is very well rendered. I particularly like the texture around her eyes. I really admire the way you did her arms, stunning anatomy deviation of human body, and very believable.

Sorry for saying "she" if it's a "he". I can't wait to see you're poison ivy finished. It looks absolutely STUNNING. I mean it.

Jordan : the tail is centered, the "hole" in her/his outfit is on the side of the body The main braid is twisting a little bit, I've tried a more twisted version but it was a little bit distracting But I see your point, it may have looked more realistic... I just didn't like it ^^ I think that we should be able to see the first right horn as I've painted it since the face is nearly front viewed (I dunno how to say it, sorry for my bad english :S ) but I may be wrong... it just didn't look natural to me when I had make it more hidden by the head... But I suck at perspective
About the bg : it/she/he lives on a cave.... I've tried adding a bg, I really tried! It was way too distracting due to the lightsource... It flattened the image a lot so I've kept it simple with a plain black background ^^ Thank you very much!

i love it!(as you might've guessed already, haha). it's so great to see you doing this kind of stuff. very different to many of your previous works, yet still has your style all over it. i gotta be honest, some times it gets a bit boring to look at women with pretty faces. so i'm really enjoying this a lot. the character's completely unique, very interesting to look at and the details are totally overwhelming. i think a great artist is the kind of person that can master technique as well as having the guts to try new things, so hat's off for you!

Absolutely magnificent! Diane, I don't know how you get what you get, but I love it! This piece turned out beautifully. I love the semi translucent fingers in the details link! The overall quality and stunning detail are obviously worth the 50 hours to you. I know they are for me. Just don't make my mistake and burn yourself out with too many 3 hour nights! When you finally break down from the overload, it's no fun at all. That being said...Excellent work! Top Marks!

I would have guessed that it's a work of yours. These little kinda organic lights are quite a (c)Diane trademark since (at least) your "Deep Sea Creature". Excellent details and lightings (though I would have made the light extremities more bright). My tiniest little crit would go to her ear which is not shadowed enough.
What I love here beyond the execution is the contrast between the kinda scary anatomy and the way the creature looks at the viewer, in a non-hostile way I would say.
